This short film by IBM caught our eye recently. Depicting the city as a system, planning for smarter cities requires re-engineering the way we work, think, plan and act. Taking the objective view, it all makes great sense. Place products and services precisely where we need them. Engineer transport solutions to promote greater use of walking, cycling and the public transport system. Design urban living to keep everything local. Moving from a system of living that has taken time to evolve into the modern city into a better connected system will however, take time. In the meantime, utilising existing data to better plan urban utility can reap huge dividends.
Elwell buildings provides a range of modular buildings and cycle storage equipment. Aside from the products we produce, we have a great interest in the sustainability of society and how we can contribute to the discussion.
